"There’s one thing I know for sure: Seeing big bodies in our visual landscape has the power to profoundly change lives. I will never stop encouraging women to be bold and show up in their bigger bodies. Owning who you are and surrendering the fight for thinness at any cost is the best thing you can do for yourself. It's certainly the best thing I've ever done for myself. "

Love in the time of Cholera

I am reading it again, my favorite book of all time, Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez

DemocracyNow.org did this very memorable and worth-watching special about his life, in which they interview Isabel Allende while all along playing clips from Marquez' early talks with the show. Something about this story appeals to me, I believe it's the passage of time is stretched far beyond what we think of as time. For example, we may think of ourselves only in our current life and never once stop to see our lives over decades, and in those decades we rarely see the drastic changes that take a hold go our lives, whether we want it or not. This story spans over years and years and yet, the narrative continues as if time were not a factor. This professed love waits decades for time is not a factor in face of true convictions, the very truth itself.
As I runner I can relate to this unconventional look at time for while running long distances one also begins seeing time as less finite, less threatening....minute... by... minute. Time is simply ......skipped, sometimes unnoticed as the thoughts pass by.

Made an amazing bird bath today

I had such a great time making this bird bath with Nora. We did a Pinterest search and found this page in this blog called Life In Rehab. Although we were inspired by the idea, we chose different colors and even added a smaller fountain on top with a ceramic owl as decoration.

coffee on the porch with nugget

There is nothing like my porch in the morning.....especially if you are accompanied by a very chatty parrot
